How to glam up and keep the cost down
You may be on a budget this Christmas but that doesn’t mean you can’t look the part for the party season. You don’t have to splash out to look good, all you need are some fabulous on trend accessories to update your togs.
Sparkle in your best colours
1928 With so much fun jewellery around, it won’t be hard - or expensive - to be the belle of the party, as long as the colours work for you. You can give your outfit this season’s heirloom jewellery look with a bold necklace, ring or earrings in colourful mock gems and silver and marcasite, and here are the best colours for you:

Light Keep the colours of your jewellery light, such as citrine, aquamarine and amethyst. Pearls are always a great stand-by. You can also pile on lots of thin gold chains.
Deep Garnet, tiger eye, rubies or jet with metals will look great on you. Mix with gold or silver and diamantes.
Warm Good jewels for you are jade, topaz, coral and aquamarine. Opt for gold rather than silver for metals.
Cool Silver and platinum are your metals and look good teamed with rose quartz, sapphire, lapis and amethyst or emerald. Your pearls should be pink, white or grey.
Clear Sparkly jewels work best for you; choose emerald, sapphire, amethyst, ruby and crystals.
Soft Keep your metals matte and your stones warm or cool - topaz, jade and tortoiseshell are warm; amethyst, opal and lapis are cool. Mix with pearls for an elegant effect.

If you don’t know what your best colours are, there is no better time to find out and visit a consultant for a colour consultation.
Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize...
Without a doubt, accessories are the easiest way to make something from a past season look current. You can turn a simple top or dress into a dazzling party piece just by adding the right items. At this time of year something shiny always works well, whether it’s silk, patent, sequins, metals, or gems.
Corsages and Bows
Wallis Take a plain shift dress, add an oversized corsage to the neckline, strap, just below the shoulder or attached to a slim belt around your middle, this will add instant drama. Alternatively, add an oversized bust bow or a bow waist sash to an empire or prom style dress.
Statement bags and shoes
Dorothy Perkins Find some satin shoes in a hot colour like red or purple and a bag to match for bold glamour. Alternatively revamp a plain pouch by attaching a great sparkly brooch to it.
Bangles
French Connection Bangles have become big so don’t hold back, wear a chunky statement piece or carry several on your arm for impact.
Clothes swapping party
One girl’s junk is another girl’s treasure. If you really don’t want to get ‘that dress’ out again but don’t want to spend a small fortune, then why not arrange a clothes swapping party with your friends to find your party pieces this year? All you need are your friends, several pieces of clothing and accessories and for a small fee each, a colour me beautiful consultant will help each of you revamp something old or find something new. It’s also a fun and economical way to get the girls together for some pre-Christmas cheer.
