Wonderful Summer events, be it large or small, often seem to be tainted by wet weather. Wimbledon, Edinburgh, the family picnic, a weekend at the seaside…
If you want to get through those unexpected summer showers and still look great, follow our top tips below and don’t let rain stop play!

all the essentials, and your parka to boot!

Colourful wellies
|
|
|
Don’t be shy, find some whacky wellies in your colours! There are plenty to choose from and are fun to wear with a summer skirt or dress.

Cork wedges
|
|
|
OK, so the event you’re at is too smart for wellies; you’d better opt for cork wedges instead. Your feet will be elevated a few inches from the puddles and cork is near-impermeable, which is why we use it for wine bottles!

Summer fabrics when wet will show through what’s underneath them so make sure you think about the pattern and style of your undies if it looks like rain. For light coloured clothing, wear white or nude underneath. You don’t want to shock the locals but showing a little lace is fine and feminine. French knickers are cute and comfortable too.
Whilst your clothes are drying off, why not wrap yourself in a soft
pashminetta
to keep the damp chill off…!

A downpour or even fine drizzle can create havoc with your hairstyle. If you can bear to hide your crowning glory under a hat, now is the time!
The hat can be a neglected accessory, frequently being assigned only to special occasions. However, the truly stylish among us will enjoy topping off an outfit with a smart, quirky or fashionable hat. The high street has an array of styles for summer; cowboy, bakerboy and floppies are the big trends this season.
If you can’t bear the thought of flattening your “do”, make sure you have treated your hair with a little TLC beforehand. Serums, waxes and even hairsprays will coat your hair with some protection from the elements.
So don’t let the rain put you off having fun, keep smiling, it’s only water!

Finally, we’ve all seen the photo of the damsel in distress who popped out of the office to grab some lunch only to get caught in a downpour. Whilst you might not have a complete change of clothes in your top drawer at the office, a micro-fibre travel towel, hair products and brush, and make-up bag are sure to save your blushes. With these essentials you’ll soon be able to regain your professional appearance!
