However, with summer sales in full swing, now is the perfect time to grab some bargain pieces to take you one step ahead of the fashion game in September.
Red, the colour of power, will be one of the biggest colour stories this autumn/winter. Luckily, there are all shades of red available in everything from handbags and shoes to tops and trousers, so youÕll be sure to find something in the perfect red for you. Try:

„ Geranium if you are a light
„ Scarlet if you are a deep
„ True red if you are a warm
„ Blue red if you are a cool
„ Ruby if you are a clear
„ Claret if you are a soft
 
   
The tailored androgynous look is deemed to be big next season and wide leg trousers are an easy way to capture this look. High or low-waisted, anything goes as long as it works for your proportions. Remember that the fabric should be soft and floaty so that it moves with you.
Stock up on reduced price blouses with voluminous or batwing sleeves. Again, the fabric is one of the elements you will need to consider. If you are tall and flat chested (ˆ la Trinny) you can wear crisper fabrics. If you are more the Susannah type, make sure your fabrics are soft and drapey.
One of this summerÕs biggest trends, patent continues for autumn, so donÕt be shy and go for colourful patent shoes and handbags.
When it comes to bags, big still is better Š especially oversized square totes. Just remember your proportions and donÕt be tempted to be over-powered by a handbag.
You will find plenty of soft and lightweight jersey dresses. When teamed with patterned tights and a chunky knit cardigan the dress is totally transformed into a cosy wintertime look.
Copper, gold, bronze or silver, every metallic out there will still be a strong look in the autumn, especially when mixed with different textures such as tweed and knits. Make sure the sale item you choose has a texture and patina to it, key to making you look current.
   
The knee and mid-calf trousers that are the cooler trouser option for the summer heat can also work in the autumn. Choose fabrics such as cool wools and gabardines that can be teamed up with tights and boots while still keeping you warm from the winter chill.
Grey is equally stylish for day or evening and has a staggering spectrum of shades. A whisper of silver, palest dove, pewter and charcoal Š grey will permeate every item out there.
Whether skinny or wide, belts will be everywhere cinching chunky layers or making a statement on dresses and coats.
If you are travelling with British Airways this summer youÕll be happy to know that from 5 July you are allowed to bring one standard size bag onboard (it used to be 5kg max).

The new rules are:

„ the maximum size of the bag should not exceed
56cm x 45 cm x 25cm
(22in x 18in x 10in)

„ you should be able to lift the bag unaided into the overhead locker

„ One other bag is allowed as long as it fits under the seat in front of you

This gives you plenty of room in your carry on luggage to pack everything for a weekÕs holiday in the sun. Just think back to what you took with you last year, and what you actually wore.

If you do forget to pack one of your essential items, remember nothing is more exhilarating than buying a great fashion piece abroad.

If you are spending some time on the beach or by the pool this summer donÕt forget to have your eyelashes and eyebrows tinted (particularly if they are blonde).
 
„ Apply an SPF moisturiser to clean skin and let it absorb for at least 10 minutes

„ After applying your
colour me beautiful foundation or tinted moisturiser, follow with a concealer under the eyes to give added radiance

„ Lightly brush bronzing powder in your best colour along your cheekbones.

„ Sweep any remaining powder from your brush along the forehead and bridge of your nose.

„ Finish with a light application of lip gloss
